Zlatá Praha - On the top floor of the InterContinental, Zlatá Praha's picture windows provide a 360-degree view over the rooftops of Prague, giving guests a good idea why this is known as the City of One Hundred Spires. The lunch and dinner menu is fine-dining international-style with Czech specialties, and a special business lunch is served during the week. On Sundays, brunch is served, accompanied by live jazz music and entertainment for children. Primátor - Open for breakfast and functions, Primátor's spearmint-satin booths are separated from one another with wood and brass screens. Choose from a large buffet or a Japanese-style breakfast. Duke's - Open all day for snacks, cakes and drinks, Duke's lobby bar and café is decorated in Jazz Age style, with curved sofas and deep armchairs giving a club-like atmosphere. An organically shaped heavy wooden divider screens the bar from the rest of the café and lobby.

What to expect: Right on the river, the InterContinental's exterior may be Soviet-era, but the lobby is up to the minute. Divided by translucent, metallic-brown drapes and organically-shaped wood columns, the lobby's marble floor is trodden by groups of young business people, while its serpentine, steel-colored sofas seat older couples on vacation. Amenity highlights: The hotel's indoor pool is naturally lit from a glass roof; on the mezzanine above there's a golf simulator. Trainers assist guests in the large gym and attached sports store. On the top floor, the Zlatá Praha restaurant has a 360-degree view over the rooftops of Prague. Insider tip: The building directly to the east of the InterContinental's forecourt is one of Prague's most notable Cubist buildings, designed by architect Novotný in the 1920s. While Cubist painters like Picasso became world-famous, Cubist architecture was never as widely known, and is really seen only in Prague. Other examples include the House of the Black Madonna, on Celetná.

The InterContinental's fitness area is unusually large, with close to 20 weight and fitness machines, as well as trainers, aerobics classes, aqua-aerobics, solarium, massage and a sportswear store. The hotel's indoor pool is shaped like a fish and includes a jetted tub. Other equipment includes a golf simulator, which mimics some of the world's best courses, and a putting green.
